Effective Dated Tables
In Varicent, we can create tables that include effective start and end dates. Multiple versions of the same record can be entered by setting different start and end dates for each record.
Biggest advantage of this feature: Varicent maintains the start and end dates for all records as changes occur to the data over time. For example, you can change the comp plan for an employee on Oct 1, 2020 and both comp plan for the employee can exist in the table with different start and end dates.
When Compared effective dated table with non-effective dated tables:
- End dating previous version of record is done automatically for effective dated tables. The older version of record end dates a day before of the new record’s start date.
- Effective dated table feature saves time and reduces error regarding “data do not end dated properly” like in non-effective dated tables.
